YLA SUMMER SESSION
Summer Session Registration is NOW OPEN!
In addition to the Young Leaders Academy school-year-based program, the six-week Summer Session for children entering Grades 3-8 provides a continuum of learning to reverse summer learning loss. The Summer Session provides daily classroom instruction in core academic subjects, enrichment activities, service learning projects, and educational field trips.
The six-week Summer Session runs from June 15 - July 24, 2026, Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 am - 3:30 pm. Friday: Optional Field Trips (up to an additional $30 per trip). All sessions are held at Carthage College.
NEW THIS YEAR: We offer an optional two-week extension available from July 27 through August 7, 2026. Sessions will be held at the following location: YMCA George Bray Center, 924 Center Street, Racine, WI.
What your child will experience:
- Breakfast, Lunch, and Snacks provided during program days. Breakfast and Snacks provided for field trips.
- Morning activities include math, reading/language, and world language classes taught by certified teachers or student teachers.
- Lunch in the Todd Wehr Center Cafeteria at Carthage College.
- Afternoon session includes structured recreational activities, including swimming, basketball, kickball, relay races, and various other group games and exercises designed to build camaraderie and teach self-discipline, teamwork, fair play, rule following, and good sportsmanship, in addition to other important life and social skills.
- Friday activities include educational field trips or participation in service-learning projects (e.g. cleaning community parks, starting community gardens).
Pricing:
Current/Returning YLA Participants: $150
First Time Participants: $175
